Hello, I am arriving by train from Como into Zurich in Early Sept and wish to spend 3 or 4 nights in Switzerland.I'll be departing either out of Basel or out of Geneva (still plotting my trip. A few key questions: 1 should I not bother staying at all in Zurich and just grab a train to the lakes 2 even if I do fly out of Geneva, can I skip the sights or will I regret it 3 Would it be best to pick one location as a base (Lucern or some place else or should I "hop" spending one night in each place 4 if I "hop" would Lausanne then Bern, then Lucern be the 3 places to seek accomodations, then take day trips to various mountains and lakes from each Many many thanks for any perspective here.I'll be travelling alone, by train not car, so if anyone has a *clean* and safe Bandamp;B or Hostel recco, I'll take that as well : There are so many variables, I hope others will contribute their ideas.'m just going to make some suggestions that I know are feasible and rewarding, adjust to suit. If you get into Zürich in the morning (the train from Como takes only 3 hours, if you get up early you can make it a full day, spend the rest of the day there.t's a pretty and cosmopolitain city by the lake, and you can take your pick from the many ideas you'll find in guide books, via Google, etc.for outdoors and indoors things depending on whim and weather.tay the night, or hop a late train and move to, say, Bern where most everything including your most likely hotel/hostel will be within walking distance from the train station. A day in Bern with its medieval charm in the well preserved city center, the old cathedral, its art museum, its new Paul Klee museum (called Paul Klee Zentrum, and much more, all accessible on foot or with trams and buses, will be fun.ry to be at the clocktower (Zytglogge in Berndialect or Zeitglocken in proper German at 12 noon, that's
