SWITZERLAND Readers's Tips - I stayed at Pickwick in 1992.eep in mind that a lot can change over the years, but here's how it was then: Pickwick did not provide breakfast, which isn't a huge factor for me and certainly not worth an extra 70/80 CHF/night.Our room had red shag carpeting which is not pleasing to the eye, but again not a problem. It is right over a bar which is quite noisy while it's open. But that's OK because we were always in the bar until closing, which I believe was around midnight. After that the noise wasn't bad. They did not provide parking, so we had to leave the car in a public parking lot.Again, no problems with that. The best thing about it was the stunning view of the lake.I would stay there again.

Thank you "PBJ", I have booked the Pickwick and what I did was to add slightly more and guarantee a higher level with balcony room, so hopefully this will reduce the bar noise and get great view.till cheaper than Des Alpes..hanks. Happy to help, sabu.Would you kindly post back when you return and let me know if the Pickwick has changed Some things are timeless, like the noisy bar and the great view of the lake, but I would be interested to know if they now serve breakfast. And I can't wait to find out if they still have that lovely red shag carpet. If noise would bother your, I think you are wise to go with the room on the higher floor. Our room sat directly over the bar, which would have been a problem if we hadn't been at the bar until closing every night.Have a great trip.

I've never been to Switzerland and my feeling is that it should work out fine, but is there anything I'm not taking into account What I'm looking for is great scenery and good walking areas.y problem: I'm a bit picky : I love green forests, meadows with flowers, blue lakes and mountains.'m not very interested in climbing high mountains where there are "just" rocks and/or snow.t has to be GREEN and beautiful. I will have 8 full days in Switzerland (Monday to Monday, and my provisional itinerary looks like this: Day 1 Early morning I pick up my Swiss Youth Rail Pass (for 8 days in Zurich train station and go to Chur where I take Bernina express to Tirano and then come back to the most beautiful town I see on my way (if I can not choose I stay in Pontresina Day 2 Hiking in this area Day 3 I go to Lauterbrunnen valley (via Lucerne Interlaken Golden pass route and stay in a hostel Day 4 Day 7 Long walks (around Murren, Wengen, Isenfluh, Schynige Platte and, possibly, St.atus Caves. Day 8 I leave Switzerland with a night train from Geneva (leaves at 11 12 PM, so I should have plenty of time to get from Lauterbrunnen to Geneva via other half of Golden Pass route (Interlaken Montreux and maybe even walk around some places. That's how it looks at the moment . : Is there anything else I should see
