I purchased a single train ticket in the South of France six days before taking the train from Montpellier to Zurich.In France, be sure to stamp your ticket before getting on the train.I had to change trains in Lyon, France.I didn't think I had time to stamp the next ticket (five minutes so I didn't.Big mistake.I was read the law by the French train officials.Make Time, I was told.I talked myself out of a fine.I had to change trains in Zurich, but a wonderful experience.The Swiss trains are great.

Fly into Zuerich, it's less than 3 hours to Lugano and you get plenty of scenic benefits en route US flights get into Zuerich around breakfast time, and that first day you can just walk off the jetlag by taking a hotel in Zuerich itself from the airport you'll have a 15minute train ride or so, very comfortable, the trains leave from underneath the airport complex. Book a hotel in walking distance from the main central station called Hauptbahnhof.fter you check in, go walkabout down along the famous and superexpensive shopping street Bahnhofstrasse to the lake, back up on the other side of the river through the old historic city, look for a nice place for lunch (not hard to find in Zuerich just make the day go by agreeably without going to sleep, or you'll be so turned around that you'll never sleep when everybody else does. After an early dinner you'll get a long night's rest you'll wake up now and then, but that's normal.he next day, whenever it suits you, take one of the many trains to Lugano.here's a fast one every hour at 9 minutes past the hour, half of them direct (08:31, 09:09, 11:09, 13:09, 15:09, 17:09, some requiring a single transfer en route in ArthGoldau (10:09, 12:09, 14:09, 16:09. From Lugano you should consider taking the Postauto (an excursion coach run by the Swiss Postal Authorities, the famous Palm Express, up to St.oritz: www.isspost./en/pagrfpalmexpress.m you could stay the night in the St.oritz area, that would be wonderful, and then take the train to Zuerich, to a hotel near the airport so you can make your flight. Give me the exact dates and flight times and I'll see how that can be finagled.
