SWITZERLAND Readers's Tips -
There is much more to Interlaken than Brienz and Thun. There is the remainder of the Berneroberland namely Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen
Wengen and Murren. You have Grindelwald First,
the Jungfrau and Schlithorn.Really you have
at least 57 days to get thru most of it.HOwever with your three days would pick Luzern as you have Lucern itself, the Transport Museum
Mts.itlis, Pilatus and Rigi along with the
lake and towns on its shores. The boat docks
at Luzern are opposite the Bahnhof, the boat docks for Interlaken, for Lake Thun behind the
Interlaken West Station and for Lake Brienz behilnd the Interlaken Ost station.auterbrunnen is in a valley with Wengen and Murren on opposite sides.Grindelwald is slightly east by itself. It is connected by rail
to Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg
With chair lifts and cable cars thruout the BO.
Again with your time frame would pick Luzern, staying within town and day tripping out.
Richard of LaGrange Park, IL
Maybe I can help parsing it out a bit more.
Both Interlaken and Luzern are ideal places for your short stay.
Pick either one, and you'll pick well.
Luzern, as Richard says, has enough attractions to keep you
happy for the short time you're there he mentions the major
targets, and some are indoors, so if the weather is inclement,
you'll still have fun, and if it's really inclement (hey in April
anything is possible, a short trip of less than an hour to Zürich
avails you of more bigcity indoor enjoyments.
Interlaken is situated between two lakes (hence the name, the
lake of Thun and the lake of Brienz.oth Thun and Brienz are
smallish towns, Thun the bigger, but you wouldn't want to stay
in either.nterlaken, while not especially attractive itself, is the
ideal springboard for the many many attractions in the Berner
Oberland, it has all the hotels and restaurants you need, and is
on a major train line.
For targets from Interlaken look around and take your picks at
www.rneroberland./navi/sommer/home.m, and input
Berner Oberland into Google and go surfing.
In early April some targets (those involving high mountain
passes won't be open yet, others will still be accessible for
those in skigear it depends what kind of winter they had.ut
you don't really need to make longrange arrangements except
for lodging, Interlaken is totally geared towards tourists, you
arrive and ask, and they tell you what's open, how long it takes
to get there and back, how much it costs that's what they're
good at.
Of course, if you have read up and websurfed in advance, you'll
know which targets interest you, and it will be easier for
someone to advise you on the spot.
For info on how to get there, go to www.b. (click on en on
top for English, and to get a sense of where things are, input
your city of arrival (Zürich airport and Lucerne (or Interlaken
into www.amichelin.m as departure and destination, you'll
get maps etc.
Hope this helps
