Basel is a venerable city on the Rhine, old money and old culture
rule there (in constant traditional rivalry with "vulgar and
ostentatious and loud and indiscreet Zand252;rich" if you ask a

The countryside is nice, too, with a bit of luck you might see the
first Osterglocken, the hardy flower that comes out around
Easter, but it will be early for things to really be in bloom.
You should not miss Bern, I've sung its praises many times here
recently, the historic center is very much old and modern in a
fascinating way, easily walkable even in the rain (arcades provide
shelter, full of shops and life, and the new Paul Klee Zentrum
and the Einstein exhibit at the historical museum (he lived in
Bern while figuring out his theories will be great on a rainy day.
And MurtenMorat, and Chand226;teaud'Oeux, and the Castle of
Chillon down on the Lake of Geneva, and the elevated Glion or
Caux above Montreux on a good day, with milliondollar views
across to the Mont Blanc etc.
And you should have time to swing by Lucerne, of course.

In July we will be in Switzerland for 3 days as part of our SwitzerlandItaly vacation.e will be flying to Milan Malpensa, arriving in the morning, and from there going to Lugano.e would like to stay in Lugano the first day, and next morning rent a car and drive to St.oritz, stopping on the way for sightseeing.e would spend a night in St.oritz, return the car and nex morning take the Bernina Express train to Tirano and from Tirano take a the Bernina Express bus to Lugano.
Questions:
1.s the drive from Lugano to St.oritz difficult/easy.
