In 4:19 hrs you can do the quickest possible trip, lvg Montreux at 06:53 gets you to the top of the Schilthorn by 11:12.
If you can get up a bit earlier and catch the 06:19 you get to the top at 10:42.
If you leave at 12:48 you get back to Montreux by 17:05 might as well stop for an hour or two in Bern before carrying on since you have to change trains there anyway.
If you stay up longer, come back at 13:48 and get to Montreux by 18:05, or by 18:13 if you take the other route, the more scenic one from Interlaken Ost track 8 at 15:25 to Zweisimmen where you change to the Goldenpass Panoramic train leaving at 16:23 (reserve.

You can get as far as Murren on a Swiss Pass before deciding whether to pay to go higher.If the Schilthorn is in the clouds it may be better to spend your time exploring Murren instead.
